What is Polycrystalline Diamond?

Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) is the hardest material known to man. It is produced through a technologically advanced process utilizing extreme pressures and high temperatures.

Why use Polycrystalline Diamond tooling?

The abrasion resistance and thermal conductivity of PCD allows tools to cut 200 to 300 times longer than carbide under “optimal cutting conditions".

What are optimal cutting conditions for PCD?

  • Consistent hold down without vibration
  • Consistent clean material (solid wood, wood composites, carbon fibre, phenolics, plastics, aluminum, etc)

Application:
Use PCD scoring saws on any material. PCD main blades should be used only on clean panel material or raw MDF/HDF. For inconsistent materials such as particle boards, use Ultimax carbide tipped main blades with PCD scores for optimal performance.
